Lunch Atop a Skyscaper
Eleven men, sitting on a beam, 800 feet above the City of New York. The nonchalance they demonstrate says it all! They were working men and they were proud of it. Taken amid the great depression, this iconic photograph is a direct representation of everything America stands for. Eleven different men, all from different countries and different walks of life, could be hired to work atop the greatest city in the world. It's a portrayal of the hustle and bustle of the city life. One didn't have the time to stop and look! They had to eat their lunch, and keep it moving. This photograph is also a tribute to John. D. Rockefeller, who put
250 000 people to work when the economy was at an all time low. He created a reason for the people of America to look forward to what the future held for them.
